Hi everyone, have had quite a busy time since
you last heard from me.
I made a flying visit to the Thurso Country
Music festival on the Saturday the 15th April and I was made very welcome,
thank you. Everyone seemed to be having a good time when I arrived. The
line dancers had their section of the floor extended this year, at least
for the afternoon part of the show, which pleased the dancers a treat. At
night time when the floor is a lot busier they are quite happy to have a
smaller share. This festival is organised very well and the organisers go
out of their way to help and make sure everyone is happy. Well
Done.
I was invited down to Ann and Alan's at the
Bilston Miners Club in Bilston on the 22nd of
April for their All day festival. Graham and I arrived about 3pm so I had
sadly missed Stateline and only heard a few tracks from
Broadcaster. But I did hear Dave Montana
and The Diesal Cowboys both were
excellent.I always love going down to Ann and Alan's, because everyone is
very friendly and warm. I do think Ann was a wee bit disappointed with the
turn out, so next year there may be a slight change of times.they are
thinking of having a mini festival from 4pm till 12mn instead of an all
day event. The bands booked are The Bloodbrothers and
Muddy Boots.
Thank you very much for the invite and I hope
to be back again later on this year to see you all.
We had a great weekend at Keith again this
year the bands excelled themselves. Billy Bubba King,
Toe the Line, Vegas, Tennessee River and Brian Hughes and the
Lonesharks were all very good. Club organisers they are all worth
booking . This was the first time Vegas had been up in
Aberdeen with me. They certainly never let me down. They were very, very
good. I would recommend them to any club who likes country music and still
have your dance floor full all the time. Brian Hughes and the
Lonesharks were absolutely excellent. I had heard varied reports
on this band, but they finished my weekend off with a bang. I hope to book
them again in the very near future. Roz and Ron my Dj's worked very hard
all weekend, as always, and to the girls that help me, a big thank you to
everyone. Next year will be on the Friday 5th, 6th and 7th of May. Bands
confirmed are Arizona flame, Brushwood, Gemma Fairweather, and The
Diesal Cowboys. Promises to be another good weekend.
Looking forward to hearing Calico on Friday
the 26th May ,I was sorry to hear Brian was no longer with them.Good luck
Brian on what ever road you have taken.
Some dances I have been teaching lately are
Crazy for Leaving, Drinks For 2, Try it, Walking Backwards, and Looking
for Trouble. If anyone requires any step sheets please email me.
Wilma who teaches in Thurso choreographed a
dance called ''Try It'' great little dance. Give it a go.
Great weekend at
Coylumbridge, weather was freezing, but luckily we were warm
inside the Hilton Hotel.I would like to say a big thank you to
everyone that comes up to Aviemore and enjoys the weekend.
Thank you also to Pete Harkness for his workshop and djing all
weekend. Dave Montana,Calico and Plain Loco, you all put so
much effort into your playing. I am going to list Petes dances
and if anyone would like a sheet please
email me This is the step
sheet that Pete did not have with him at Aviemore.
Another Easter weekend at
Keith has come to an end,and what a great weekend it was.
Using 2 venues gives
everyone their choice of music, I used the Longmore hall and the Royal
Hotel.Because i had been double booked for the Longmore on the
Saturday i had to use the TA Hall in Keith, but was made very welcome.
Again sadly to say i
cannot get the Longmore on the Friday for 2006,but i will have
somewhere to go, and the Longmore is available for the Saturday and
Sunday
The weekend kicked in with
Calico and Sidewinder in alternate halls, on the Friday and Saturday
and great they both were.
Saturday afternoon we saw
Trevor James and everyone enjoyed the change of tempo.
Sunday afternoon Steve
James gave us an entertaining 2 hours and Sunday night it was the
wonderful Little Rock, absolutely great dont miss them in Aberdeen if
you are a country fan next time.
In between all these live
acts i had 2 hard working dj's Ron and Roz who both always do a great
job.
Thank you to everyone that
attended the Keith weekend and to all my girls that help.
Hope to see you next year.
